Keep Louisiana Beautiful (KLB), the state's non-profit volunteer organization dedicated to litter prevention and waste reduction, is now accepting applications for its 2014-2015 KLB Healthy Communities Grants Program. Applicants may apply for up to $10,000 to help fund local litter prevention, enforcement and education projects. Information, criteria and application may be downloaded on the KLB website keeplouisianabeautiful.org. The deadline to apply for funding is Aug. 27, 2014. Grant applications are to be submitted via email to skelley@keeplouisianabeautiful.org.

Last year, KLB awarded $230,000 in grants to 34 different organizations including 19 affiliates, and a combination of 15 community and educational organizations around the state.

The KLB Grants Program is designed to help 501(c) (3) organizations, governmental agencies, KLB affiliates, schools and school districts, and youth groups implement projects with a specific focus on litter abatement through community education, recycling and enforcement. KLB provides funding for strong, sustainable, action-oriented programs dedicated to our mission, which demonstrate a clear commitment to involving volunteers, and community education and change. For more information on applying contact, Sarah Kelley, affiliate coordinator at skelley@keeplouisianabeautiful.org.

"The Healthy Communities Grants Program is one way KLB is extending its reach and broadening its impact in local communities throughout the state," Susan Russell, KLB Executive Director, said. "We want to empower these groups to engage and mobilize their communities for a cleaner and greener tomorrow."

In addition to the grant program, KLB invites applicants to attend the KLB State Conference on Oct. 2 and 3 at the Claiborne State Office Building located in Baton Rouge, where they can learn more about projects they can implement and other tips on keeping Louisiana beautiful. Keynote speaker is Jennifer Jehn, Keep America Beautiful President and CEO. Registration for the conference is available on keeplouisianabeautiful.org.
