Ground has been broken for the Justin Bloxom Memorial Garden at North DeSoto Middle School.

The garden honors the memory of 12-year-old DeSoto Middle School student Justin Bloxom, who was abducted and murdered almost a year ago -- on March 30th, 2010.  The garden is a cooperative effort involving the Justin Bloxom Alliance for Innocence, North DeSoto Middle School, the DeSoto Parish School Board, and the Gardens of Louisiana.  It's hoped that the garden can be completed prior to the first-year anniversary of Justin's murder on March 30th, 2010.  Principal Keith Simmons says the garden will serve as a positive place for young people to gather and remember Justin while, at the same time, being reminded that there are predators out there who will use every means available to get to them.
