John Kennedy Wins Senate Seat in Louisiana
State Treasurer John Kennedy pulled away early as returns came in and was an easy winner in the race for the U.S. Senate.
The Republican beat Foster Campbell in the runoff. Campbell, a Democrat, currently serves on the Public Service Commission. Campbell pledged to work for equal pay for women, an increase in the minimum wage and college loan waivers for two years of military or domestic public service.
Kennedy has pledged to defend conservative values in the Senate. Kennedy was endorsed by the U.S. Chamber of Commerce.
Rob Engstrom, senior vice president and national political director of the U.S. Chamber said "Kennedy has a clear record of fighting for fiscal responsibility and lower taxes. In Washington, he will continue to be an advocate for Louisiana by championing job creation and economic growth and getting government and regulations out of the way so free enterprise can lead."
