United States Senator John Kennedy talks with 101.7 / 710 KEEL's Robert J Wright and Erin McCarty about his decision to not run for Governor of Louisiana and the events leading up to his announcement.

Kennedy tells KEEL listeners that his final decision to not run was made just before he made his announcement. "I announced it at 9 o'clock on a Monday. I made the decision Sunday," the Senator says. "I really struggles with it. It wasn't about winning or losing. The polls looked pretty good. It was about where I think I can do the most good."

The Senator also confirms stories that Donald Trump called and urged him to stay in the upper chamber. "It's a fair question," Kennedy says, when asked to detail the talk, "But I don't like to talk about my conversations with the President."
