An accused burglar is behind bars -- after DNA evidence linked him to a burglary in west Shreveport. Back on April 13th, Shreveport patrol officers were called out to a residential burglary in the 3700 block of Michigan Boulevard. The homeowner told them someone had kicked open the front door and made off with several items, including a stove and refrigerator. Investigators recovered a discarded cigarette butt at the crime scene...and that evidence was turned over to the North Louisiana Crime Lab for analysis. The DNA was matched to 34-year-old Rogers Pickens, Jr., who was taken into custody yesterday afternoon after a brief foot chase. He's now in the Shreveport City Jail on one count of simple burglary.
