Shreveport City Councilman Michael Corbin talks with 101.7 / 710 KEEL's Robert J Wright and Erin McCarty about the financial state - and outlook - of the city's investments in the downtown Hilton Hotel and Shreveport Convention Center.

Corbin explains the history of the city's involvement with the hotel and ongoing concerns that City Hall should try to end their financial commitment. Says Corbin, "The Hilton itself is actually holding its own, its doing pretty well." He adds that "their occupancy rates are pretty good and they're doing okay."

Regarding the Convention Center Corbin says, "There are so many pieces that go into how that generates revenue." Corbin says the financial viability of the facility depends "on what the competition is, what the convention business cycle is."
