With the announcement of a new date and time for this year's Independence Bowl, the question begs be asked, is the this year's date, day and time - Wednesday, December 27 at 12;30 - really any better than last year?

Faced with declining attendance and a lack of a title sponsor, will attendance to this year's game, the 42nd, really be helped by an early afternoon start on what, for most, is a work day? In addition, can the all important TV ratings (this year's game to be carried once again on ESPN) get a boost from a time of day that traditionally has minimal viewers?

101.7 / 710 KEEL's Robert J Wright and Erin McCarty ask whether the changes will help the annual contest survive, and is it too much to ask of local fans - upon whose support the game's survival depends - to take a half day off from the job to attend?
