I-49 Lane Closures

You can expect intermittent lane closures on Interstate-49 for the next week.The state Department of Transportation and Development is launching a week-long joint repair project on the big road. I-49 southbound will be reduced to one lane of traffic at Bert Kouns from three this afternoon until seven tomorrow morning. Starting at nine tomorrow night and continuing until six Sunday evening, you won't be able to get onto I-49, directly, from eastbound I-20. You'll have to go the other way, to Murphy Street, then loop around and get on I-49 from there. During that same time frame, traffic from I-20 westbound to I-49 will be reduced to one lane. Work on other parts of I-49 will continue through next Thursday morning, so motorists should watch for the signs and not wait until the last second to try to change lanes.
