I-20 Traffic Stop Leads to Big Marijuana Bust
Louisiana State Police say a routine traffic stop on I-20 in Bienville Parish has led to a big marijuana bust.
A trooper assigned to Louisiana State Police Troop G in Bossier City stopped a 2014 Ford F-150 for a traffic violation on eastbound I-20 near mile marker 59. During the stop, State Police say the driver, 30-year-old Corey Samuel of Houston, Texas, gave troopers consent to search his vehicle. When they did, they found approximately 62 pounds of marijuana with an estimated street value ot $93,000.
Samuel was arrested and charged with possession of marijuana with intent to distribute and conspiracy to distribute marijuana. A passenger in his truck, identified as 42-year-old Kerry Taylor of Houston, Texas, was also arrested on the same charges.
Samuel and Taylor were both booked into the Bienville Parish Jail. I
f convicted on the charges, State Police say Samuel and Taylor could each face up to 30 years in prison and up to $150,000 in fines.
