A morning accident at the Calumet Specialty Products plant in Shreveport sends three workers to the hospital. Shortly before 9 o'clock, the three were part of a crew performing routine maintenance on the Diesel Hydrotreater, a fuel-processing unit, when the Hydrogen Sulfide gas leaked from a pipe they were near. Two of the men were immediately overcome by the gas, and the third was affected when he attempted to render aid to one of the men. All three were taken to local hospitals for treatment. Calumet safety officials continue to investigate the cause of the accident.
