Like cockroaches lurking in the darkness waiting for their chance to attack the fruits of someone else’s labor, writer/directors Jason Friedberg and Aaron Seltzer (‘Date Movie,’ ‘Epic Movie,’ ‘Disaster Movie,’ et al.) sit quietly, antennae twitching, primed for their attack. Their targets this time around: ‘The Hunger Games‘ and ‘The Avengers.’

According to Variety’s Showblitz, writers (debatable) have decided to emerge from whatever dank hole they’ve been hiding in on the Fox lot to spoof ‘The Hunger Games’ and ‘The Avengers’ with their latest effort ‘The Starving Games.’

The “film” will undoubtedly be a barrage of “Oh my god, you remember this part?” and “Hey, you know that pop culture thing that was topical a year ago when we started making this movie? Remember that? Look at it!” — not so much references as generally bashing audiences over the head with visual gags and fleetingly relevant pop culture detritus.

Friedberg and Seltzer are purveyors of the lowest of low brow, and although spoof comedy is inherently low brow humor, it’s hard to imagine that these two managing to make it something even less respectable and trite. We hope you’re ready for jokes on such meaningful topics as: the Kardashians, bodily functions, probably something about that Chris Brown fellow, and various appearances by actors spoofing characters from other, better movies.
