During my recent trip to the beach in Alabama, a couple of friends asked me to stop at Trader Joe's in Baton Rouge to pick up some things for them.  My brother (who lives in BR) also stopped at Costco by his home to get gas. This got me to thinking what would it take to get a Trader Joe's or a Costco to come to Shreveport or Bossier?

Louisiana only has 2 Trader Joe's locations. One is in Baton Rouge and another is in Metairie. What needs to happen for our region to get a Trader Joe's. They have a form on their website which you can fill out asking for a store in your city. So I think that's where I'm going to start and I hope you'll help. Click here to fill out that form if you also want a Trader Joe's in Northwest Louisiana.

I also asked on my Facebook page which other businesses you would like to see in Shreveport Bossier. You send us several great suggestions and I created this poll to see what you want most. You can click on as many as you want. Afterall, we can dream, right?

I'm good with all of these, but I really want to push for Trader Joe's as my pet project. Will it ever happen? Probably not likely. I'm told the median income in a Trader Joe's market needs to be close to $100,000. We definitely don't have that. And the company also likes to be in towns where there is a large university. We probably don't fill the bill on that front, either. But we can try.
