The City of Shreveport's Energy Efficiency Division has a new program that can help you with that.  Homeowners can have "energy audits" of their homes performed to determine whether energy-efficient improvements could save them some significant cash. The audits consist of an initial review and a final rating after any improvements are installed, typically at a cost of about $500. The "SEED" Program will cover the bulk of the costs with funding from the U.S. Energy Department, with the homeowner ultimately responsible for only $100 for homes up to 2,500 square feet. The audits may also qualify homeowners for rebates of up to $3,000 from the State Department of Natural Resources through its Empower Louisiana HERO Program.
