State Rep. Cedric Glover Talks with 101.7 / 710 KEEL's Robert J Wright and Erin McCarty about his recently introduced bill that calls for funding parity among all of Louisiana's safety net hospitals.

Glover's bill, HB 885, made it through the House Appropriations Committee by a single vote on Tuesday and now goes to the floor of the House for debate and a vote.

Glover tells KEEL listeners that it was the disparity in funding for the Shreveport charity hospital - some figures say as little as 32 cents for Shreveport for every dollar for New Orleans - that was the chief motivation for his most recent run for office. Adds Glover, referring to his decades long efforts for equal funding, "These (disparities) are realities and have been a part of the history of Louisiana for decades. Now, we're trying to bring some clarity, some transparency and, hopefully, some balance."
