It's been a tradition in our region since 1955 and it continues this year. Hodges Gardens is hosting an Easter Sunrise Service this Sunday.

The service begins at 5:45 and the Vernon Parish Community Choir will present "The Seven Last Words of Christ" by Theodore Dubois. Plan on about 60-90 minutes in travel time.

If you've never made the short drive south for this holiday event, I strongly recommend it. The sunrise over the lake to the Hallelujah chorus on this Holy morning is spectacular.

It all happens at the Lakefront Stage. Gates open at 4:30AM and will close promptly at 5:45 so that the service is not interrupted.

This is a free event, but park admission rates kick in after the service. It's well worth it to stay and take a stroll through the glorious grounds of the gardens.
Hodges Gardens State Park is nestled in West Central Louisiana along Hwy 171 between Many and Leesville. The park is famous for its botanical gardens.

Bring a lawn chair and a blanket in case it's chilly.
