Speaking at the “Women in The World Summit” in New York City Thursday, Hillary Clinton told the audience that “deep-seated cultural codes, religious beliefs and structural biases have to be changed” so women will have access to “reproductive health care and safe childbirth”.

The leading Democratic Presidential candidate said,

“Far too many women are denied access to reproductive health care and safe childbirth, and laws don’t count for much if they’re not enforced. Rights have to exist in practice – not just on paper.”

Opponents are already pouncing on Clinton's statement, saying that since "reproductive rights" are code words for abortion, why did she say "religious beliefs" have to change? And some critics are calling her remarks "disturbing".
