The Red River is slowly receding, but it's still a problem across much of our area.

The river is at 29.25 feet which is below flood stage of 30ft, but the high water on the Red is still causing problems along the riverfront in Shreveport and Bossier.

The public boat launches in both communities are still closed. Also, the parks along the riverfront remain closed to the public. This latest high water has further delayed efforts to revamp riverfront park in downtown Shreveport. Crews had started work on new facilities just south of the Barnwell, but the high water has forced the work to stop, for now.

Once complete, the stage area will be improved with a green room for performers. The city is also building a bathroom facility on the riverfront so guests don't have to walk to nearby Festival Plaza.
