Louisiana Supreme Court justices have heard oral arguments in the Cabildo's Sala Capitular -- the court's home from 1853 until 1910. This was the first time the state's highest court has sat in the Cabildo since 1910. The event served a two-fold purpose -- recognizing the Bicentennial of Louisiana's statehood and the establishment of the Louisiana Supreme Court in 1813. Several other events are scheduled during the coming year, culminating in a ceremony at the Royal Street courthouse on March 1st of next year -- exactly 200 years after the Louisiana Supreme Court first convened.
