HAPPENING NOW: Gas Leak Prompts Evaucations In Bossier City

Bossier City fire and police personnel are on the scene of a gas main break on Preston Blvd., just north of Old Minden Road.  As a precaution, fire and police personnel have evaucated some guests at the La Quinta Inn and several houses in the immediate area.  Residents of the Port Au Prince and Preston Place apartment complexes are being advised to shelter in place or voluntarily leave the area.   

In all, about 30-40 people have been evacuated from the La Quinta Inn.   The police department has secured transportation for those folks to the Bossier Civic Center via Sportran buses. 

The break was caused by a back hoe that was being operated by private contractor.  Crews with Centerpoint Energy are on scene addressing the issue.
