An annual event at Shreveport's Great Raft Brewing celebrates locally-owned businesses with a day-long schedule of events.

The craft brewery at 1251 Dalzell Street is holding a free 'Independents Day' event Saturday, July 4. It's a chance to celebrate all things independent.

"We wanted to not only celebrate the independence of our country, but also highlight the creativity and hardworking entrepreneurs and artists in Shreveport," said Great Raft co-founder and vice president Lindsay Nations in a news release. "There is so much home-grown talent in Shreveport, and this event is a fun way to support our fellow business owners and introduce them to new customers."

The brewery will open to those age 21 and older at 11AM. Visitors will get an opportunity to try select Great Raft beers and enjoy local food from Bohemian Pork for the first-ever Brew-B-Q -- an all-you-can-eat BBQ for $20 per person. Day Old Blues Records will also set up a pop-up shot of independent artists, including many who call Shreveport home.

The event also features awesome live music by local musicians The Good News, Daniel Goodwill and Chris DeRosia of Hwy Lions, The Seratones and Hydrogen Child. The free concert runs from 5-9PM.

Runners who participate in Shreveport's annual Firecracker 5K can bring their racing bib to the brewery for a free beer between 11AM and 5PM. Free tours of the brewery will be held at 1, 2 and 3PM.
