Grant Announced to Fight Giant Salvinia
Congressman John Fleming and Senator Mary Landrieu say the National Fish and Wildlife Foundation is giving a $100-thousand grant to the Caddo Lake Institute. The money is to be used to help control Giant Salvinia in Caddo Lake and Lake Bistineau. Fleming says it's a two-to-one private/public match and it was won through a highly-competitive process. The Caddo Lake Institute will have to come up with $250-thousand in private money to match the grant money. Giant Salvinia has been a problem in both lakes for quite some time, despite ongoing efforts to fight it.
