Golf Classic Set For Olde Oakes
The 14th Annual LSUS Alumni Association Capital One Pilots Golf Classic will be Friday, May 4, at Olde Oaks Golf Club in Haughton, La. with an 11 a.m. shotgun start. Capital One Bank will again serve as title sponsor.
The tournament has raised more than $195,000 in its history. Proceeds benefit LSUS scholarships, programs, projects and services. LSUS athletic staff, including director Doug Robinson, men’s and women’s head basketball coaches Chad McDowell and Ronnie Howell, women’s basketball assistant coach Marcia Spyhalski, and soccer coach Mike Aguilar, will be on hand throughout the day.
A total of 34 team slots are available, but only five are left due to the popularity of the tournament. Team sponsorship levels range from $700 to $3,500. Fairway sponsorships with course signage only are also available at $250.
Entry fees cover greens fees, electric cart, practice range, team photos, tournament gifts, mulligans, putting contest and door prize tickets, box lunch, beverages, supper and the chance to win great prizes. A silent auction will include 50-yard-line LSU football tickets with a hotel stay, and a Polaris golf car.
Tournament features include Hole-In-One Contests sponsored by Landers Dodge and Courtesy Golf Cars, the Campus Federal Credit Union Putting Contest, Gill Industries Closest-to-the-Pin Contest, Chancellor’s Challenge and an awards ceremony. Team prizes will be awarded through fourth place. The First Flight, First Place Team Prize, donated by Cypress Bend Resort, includes four, two-night stays for two people in a deluxe hotel room plus two rounds of golf with carts. Cypress Bend, also a member of the Audubon Golf Trail, sits on the shores of Toledo Bend Lake near Many, La.
