State Representative Cedric Glover says that a deal between Ochsner Health System and Shreveport's University Health Hospital will mean lower medical costs for ArkLaTex residents. Glover tells 101.7 / 710 KEEL's Robert J Wright and Erin McCarty that currently, Shreveport has a "health care monopoly", with Willis Knighton controlling 77% of the market. The former Mayor also emphasizes that the situation, as it know exists, does not serve the interests of patients, doctors and healthcare workers.

Glover also addresses what he says is the current underfunding of Shreveport's charity hospital compared to those in the New Orleans area, saying the legislators from this part of the state meed to "put on our big boy britches" and "fight for our fair share."
