America's traditional values were dealt another blow this past weekend when the Girl Scouts of the United States of America announced they would welcome transgender girls. The Girl Scouts is for girls ages five to twelve.

Despite the announcement, in reality, the Girl Scouts has unofficially welcomed transgender girls for the past four years. In 2012 a Denver troop received both praise and criticism when it allowed a transgender girl to join.

From the Girl Scouts website:

"Placement of transgender youth is handled on a case-by-case basis, with the welfare and best interests of the child and the members of the troop/group in question a top priority. If the child is recognized by the family and school/community as a girl and lives culturally as a girl, then Girl Scouts is an organization that can serve her in a setting that is both emotionally and physically safe."

To those offended by the organization's position, Andrea Bastiani, Girl Scouts USA's Chief Girl Expert said, "Luckily, we don't serve our critics. We are proud to serve all girls."
