My home remodel is 90% done and I’m completing the finishing touches like hanging art and curtains etc.

But one major item I needed was a new smoke detector. Friends told me to call the Shreveport Fire Department to advise me on where I should put one. Little did I know, they send a crew AND provide free smoke detectors for residents of the City of Shreveport.

I offered to pay, but was told there is no charge. They checked out my home and found the best place for it.

Once the installation was completed, the guys from  Station 11 on Youree Drive told me my new smoke detector has a 10 year battery.

The firefighters will also help you create a fire escape plan for your home.

If you’d like to find out more about this program, contact the Shreveport Fire Prevention Division at (318) 673-6740 and leave your name, number and a time when you can be reached to arrange an appointment.
