Local dignitaries and the public get to see the new Northwest Regional Re-entry Facility first-hand tomorrow. The facility is the first of its kind for Louisiana sheriff's offices that conduct the state's re-entry program. The program's purpose is to cut crime and recidivism by preparing inmates for their release and transition back into the community. Offenders are provided resources in basic education, job skills training, substance abuse treatment and values development. Funding for the program comes from state and federal resources. The new facility is located on the Caddo Correctional Center compound on Forum Drive in Shreveport. You're welcome to go out and take a look...the open house, hosted by Caddo Sheriff Steve Prator and Louisiana Department of Public Safety and Corrections Secretary James LeBlanc, starts at 10:30 tomorrow morning.
