Shreveport General Motors Plant is Closed for Good
The 30-plus year run of production at the Shreveport General Motors' plant is over.
Only about 60 hourly workers are staying on the job to take the plant off-line. GM did donate one of the last trucks off the production line to Sci-Port.
Over the years, the Shreveport plant built nearly 5 million trucks. Shreveport city leaders along with Caddo Parish officials have been working to find another tenant for the West Shreveport facility, but so far no announcements have been made.
