The Supreme Court's decision strikes down a federal law over sports betting and this could open the door for sports betting across the country.

Louisiana Gaming Control Board Chairman Ronnie Jones says eventually sports betting will probably be approved by state lawmakers, but he adds voters would have to give the thumbs up, as well.

The majority opinion by Justice Samuel Alito said the federal anti-gambling law is unconstitutional because "it unequivocally dictates what a state legislature may and may not do."

Jones tells KEEL News sports betting is dead for this session, but he would not be surprised to see it win the approval next year. We asked him if sports betting would generate much money for the state and he says "no."  Jones says sports gambling only generates 2-3% of all gambling in Vegas. But he does say it would help cut out the black market now in place for sports gambling.
