Fugitive Arrested for Child Desertion

An Arcadia woman is behind bars in Bossier City for child desertion for leaving her 7-month old son in a hot car for several minutes. Members of the United States Marshall's Violent Offender Task Force tracked down 24-year-old Venus Lofton at the Rodeway Inn and Suites on Hilton Drive late this morning. That's when they discovered the child in the car. Even though it was running and the air conditioner was on, agents say it wasn't cooling properly. They contacted Bossier EMS and the little boy was taken to Willis Knighton Bossier to be checked out. Lofton was wanted out of Bienville Parish for burglary of a pharmacy and drug charges. Her brother Joshua was also arrested for being wanted by Louisiana Probation and Parole.
