She may make her living reporting the news, but on March 28th at New York City’s legendary Birdland club, HLN anchor Robin Meade was the story. The namesake of Morning Express With Robin Meade premiered songs from her upcoming debut album, which is set to hit Target stores in mid-June.

And the album certainly has country flavor—it’s produced by revered songwriter and Academy of Country Music Award winner Victoria Shaw, who has co-written such hits as Garth Brooks’ “The River,” Eric Church’s “Two Pink Lines” and John Michael Montgomery’s “I Love the Way You Love Me.”

Victoria backed up Robin onstage along with Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame inductee Gary Burr, making for an informal evening that was straight out of the Bluebird Cafe.
Still, the highlight—and most surreal moment—may have been when Robin called up some of her famous newsy friends, including The View’s Joy Behar and HLN’s Jane Velez-Mitchell, to join her in a country version of Don Henley’s “Dirty Laundry.” The adventurous cover is set for Robin’s album as a nod to the onetime Miss Ohio’s day job, complete with a retooled opening lyric. Sings Robin, I make my living on the morning news!
