Former WWE Superstar Joanie Laurer Dead at 45
Former WWE star Joanie Laurer, better known as the 9th Wonder of the World Chyna, was found dead in her apartment Wednesday. According to a statement released by the Redondo Beach Police Department, a friend contacted police after finding Laurer unresponsive. Foul play is not suspected and a full investigation into the cause of her death is underway.
Performing in the ring during an era where female wrestling wasn’t taken seriously, Chyna leaves an impressive legacy. She was a long time member of Degeneration X, a one time Women’s Champ and the only female in WWE history to hold the Intercontinental Championship – which she held twice during her time with the company.
Someone who wasn’t afraid to blaze her own trail & create a path for those who would follow. A pioneer whose star shined bright. #RIPChyna
