Former Shreveport Fire Chief Dallas Greene has died.

The affable Greene served as Chief in Shreveport from 1965 to 1989 before retiring after 47 years with the fire department.

He has always been a firefighter at heart and would keep up with many of the fire department employees who worked under him.

Dallas Greene was 92. He died peacefully in his sleep after a life dedicated to service.

Shreveport Chief Administrative Office Brian Crawford reminisced about Greene:

Crawford worked under Greene for many years and told us Chief Greene was a pioneer and a trailblazer in the firefighting world, bringing Emergency Medical Services to the people.
