Former Saints defensive back Darren Sharper pleaded no contest Monday to drugging and raping two women in Los Angeles, this part of a plea deal involving charges in four states, including Louisiana. Sharper will serve nine years in federal prison.

Sharper, who played two seasons in New Orleans, admitted to the crimes in a Los Angeles court after pleading guilty to another sexual assault charge in Arizona.

The five time Pro Bowler admitted he had drugged and raped two women 2013 and 2014. If he's been convicted of the California charges he would have faced 33 years in jail.

Sharper has been jailed in Arizona since early last year on two other sexual assault charges.
