Former Hotel Manager Arrested for Felony Theft

The former general manager of a local hotel has been arrested for theft. Bossier City Police say 59-year-old Janet Rene Middleton was arrested on three counts of felony theft after detectives with the White Collar Crimes Unit were contacted by her employer, who had uncovered alleged fraudulent activity through an internal audit. Middleton was employed at the Rodeway Inn and Suites in the 3000 block of Hilton Drive, where -- over the past year -- she allegedly transferred to her personal bank account nearly $50,000 in funds that were intended to be paid to the hotel. Investigators say she attempted to cover up her activity by manipulating the hotel's financial records. She was booked into the Bossier City Jail, then transferred to the Bossier Parish Maximum Security Facility.
