A former manager/bookkeeper for Trinity Southern Foods has been charged with stealing nearly $100,000 from his employer.

Caddo Sheriff Steve Prator says 54-year-old Jeffery Norbury of Bossier City has been booked on a charge of felony theft for embezzling cash and then manipulating accounting records to conceal the theft.

Sheriff's Detective Bobby Herring says the theft occurred between January 2, 2012 and December 31, 2013.  He investigated the case for the Caddo-Shreveport Financial Crimes Task Force and says the theft was uncovered by examining point of sale records, bank deposit records, and accounting software.

A news release from the Sheriff's Office says Norbury was convicted in 1991 for stealing over $35,000 from the City of Shreveport while working as the Payroll and Benefits Coordinator.  The release says he was also convicted in 1995 for theft from a Shreveport business.

Norbury was arrested earlier this week by Louisiana Probation and Parole officers for violating the conditions of his parole and booked into Caddo Correctional Center.  The felony theft charge was added later in the week.
