A former Shreveport fire chief has filed a discrimination complaint with the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission disputing his firing as Atlanta Fire Chief.

According to Fox News, Cochran says he was fired because of a book he wrote expressing his Christian faith. The Washington Post reports that in the book "Who Told You That You Were Naked," Cochran called homosexuality and lesbianism a "sexual perversion" morally equivalent to "pederasty" and "bestiality." He believes he's been discriminated against because of his religion.

The complaint was filed January 19. Cochran was fired from the Atlanta Fire Department by the city's mayor on January 6.
