The hero of this football game really is a hero.

Josiah O'Brien, a senior manager with Down syndrome for the Yorktown High School football team in Yorktown Heights, New York, recently got the chance of a lifetime when he was surprised by being put on the field during the final play of the game.

Coach Mike Rescigno inserted O'Brien at running back:

It was our senior night where our seniors and their parents get recognized and  I just thought that what better time to just give Josiah a little something extra?”

The opposing team agreed to let O'Brien play and he certainly made the most of his opportunity, scampering into the end zone for a touchdown, sealing a 48-27 Yorktown win.

Afterwards, players and fans started chanting, "Josiah! Josiah!"

It certainly was a special night for O'Brien, who said the best part was "that I got a chance on the field."
