Crisis continues in South Louisiana as flood waters impact thousands of residents. The National Guard and other have been rescuing residents from homes all day and those efforts will continue.

The Governor says three people have died as a result of this storm and one person remains missing. He says more than 7 thousand people have been rescued.

More than 40 shelters have opened up for families displaced by the flooding. Governor John Bel Edwards held a briefing today to talk about the response.

The Governor urges residents to stay home. He thanks all of the first responders who have stepped up to help. He toured Tangipahoa, Livingston and St. Helena Parish to watch the rescue efforts.

Edwards says though the storm has moved to the west, the recovery will continue in Southeast Louisiana.
