Congressman John Fleming has given public support to the Air Force's plan to move B-1 bomber fleets and the Long Range Strike-Bomber programs from Air Combat Command in Virginia to Barksdale AFB's Air Force Global Strike Command.

In a statement from his Congressional office, Fleming said:

"“I welcome the Air Force’s announcement to transfer ownership of the B-1 and Long Range Strike Bomber programs to Air Force Global Strike Command, headquartered at Barksdale Air Force Base. I have long advocated that the Air Force prioritize the global strike and strategic deterrence missions. Integrating these assets under a single command will help ensure the proper control and resourcing of the bomber fleet, and ultimately give our Global Strike Commander at Barksdale the voice needed to fully support the long-range strike mission.”

The Air Force's final decision is expected to become effective this fall.
