Shreveport firefighters found themselves coming and going yesterday -- with five structure fires in a ten-hour period.

The first of those fires was reported just after nine yesterday morning in a storage building behind the JJJ convenience store in the 41-hundred block of Hearne Avenue -- the last was reported just before seven last night in the 34-hundred block of West College. In that one, an elderly man received second-degree burns on both hands while attempting to extinguish a burning sofa but refused hospital treatment. Fires were also battled in the 18-hundred block of Anna Street, the 78-hundred block of Aaron Place, and the 6500 block of Quillen Boulevard.
