Arkansas wildlife officers suspected they had caught some illegal anglers when they found two boats full of catfish, three men and no fishing tackle. The Texarkana Gazette reports the men were caught on the Red River in Miller County near the Index Bridge. Game and Fish Commission Lt. Jackie Runion says the men used gear to send an electrical charge through the water, then used nets to gather the stunned fish. Wildlife officers seized the boats and issued the men citations that would net $8,000 in fines. They’re charged with using an electrical device to take fish. Runion says the fish were given to the elderly and needy.
