The fireworks ban is still in effect in Shreveport and Bossier City. Shreveport Fire Chief Brian Crawford says the decision was made to continue the ban after a meeting involving Shreveport and Bossier City officials, the Caddo-Bossier Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness, and meteorologists from the National Weather Service. Crawford says the decision to extend the fireworks ban was based on the ongoing drought conditions and concern about public safety and the risk of losing property. Public fireworks displays planned for Fairgrounds Field tomorrow night and the riverfront Monday Night will go on as scheduled.
