Former Police Sergeant Joey Willis has an initial appearance scheduled for 2 o'clock this afternoon in Shreveport federal court. Willis was indicted last month by a Shreveport federal grand jury on charges stemming from a 2009 bankruptcy filing. The five-count indictment charges one count of concealing assets, two counts of making false statements, and three counts of giving false testimony in the case. As soon as he learned of the indictment, Police Chief Willy Shaw placed Willis on admin leave. Last Friday, he fired him.
