Shreveport Fire Prevention officials have lots of school stops scheduled as part of National Fire Prevention Week, which runs through Saturday. Here's where they'll be the rest of this week, with Pluggie the fire hydrant in attendance:

Today - 9:30 a.m., University Elementary; 1:00 p.m., Shreve Island Elementary

Tomorrow - 9:00 a.m., Riverside Elementary

Wednesday - 9:00 a.m., Timmons Elementary; 10:00 a.m., Eden Gardens

Thursday - 8:45 a.m., Mooringsport Elementary; 10:00 a.m., Oil City Magnet

Friday - 9:15 a.m., Herndon Magnet; 11:15 a.m., Vivian Elementary

Saturday - 8:30 a.m. Wrap-up with the Smoke Alarm Campaign at 338 W. 84th Street

According to the latest National Fire Protection Association research, cooking is the leading cause of home fires and fire-related injuries. Locally, two of the five fire-related deaths this year were caused by unattended cooking, frying or grilling. That's why this year's theme is "Prevent Kitchen Fires."
