The Shreveport Fire Department's Chief of Fire Prevention is retiring after 33 years of service. David Glass' retirement is effective Sunday, July 31st. Glass began his career with the department as a firefighter in 1978, and after five years he was promoted to Fire Inspector. He held that position until his promotion to Assistant Chief of Fire Prevention in 1995, and was promoted to Chief of Fire Prevention in 2004. Glass is also outgoing International Director of the International Association of Bomb Technicians and Investigators. The fire department will honor him from 3 to 5 this afternoon at Shreveport Fire Maintenance on Mansfield Road.
