After days of dry weather, Shreveport got some rain. But, it was in the form or heavy thunderstorms rolling through the Ark-La-Tex.

  The storms knocked down trees causing power outages. In fact, a huge tree fell onto Youree Drive in the 4100 block near Preston.  Last night around 9, all four lanes of Youree were blocked.

  Police had to direct traffic around the tree until workers could get the tree off the road.  The area of Broadmoor also was without power for a while.  SWEPCO crews worked through the night to restore electricity to that area.

  There were also some traffic signals out at several intersections around town and city crews were working to repair those.

 There were as many as 500 people in the Shreveport area still without power this morning, and about the same number without power northeast of Texarkana, and near Longview. For current power outages, click SWEPCO's link:
