Shreveport Police Officers have arrested a local man in connection to a late night shooting that left one person suffering minor injuries.

On October 5, 2011 at approximately 1245 a.m., patrol officers responded to the 200 block of Choctaw Street in Shreveport's Cherokee Park neighborhood, relative to a ‘shots fired’ call.  Moments later, those same officers responded to the 3000 block of North Market after receiving a call from a female stating that the car she was riding in had been fired on.  Officers quickly learned that that the two calls were related and that the person responsible for firing the shot at the vehicle was Charles McBride.

It was further discovered that McBride and the female caller later identified as Nefereria Wallace had engaged in a verbal dispute moments earlier while on Choctaw Street. McBride and Wallace share a minor child, who was also present inside the vehicle when the shot was fired. Wallace received minor injury to the arm believed to be a result of flying glass. No other persons inside the vehicle were injured. McBride, of the 200 block of Choctaw Street in Shreveport was taken into custody and charged with one count of illegal use of a weapon and one count of a felon in possession of a firearm. McBride was booked into the Shreveport City Jail without incident.
