Family of Five Escapes Morning House Fire

A family of five is OK after their Cedar Grove home caught fire early this morning. Shreveport firefighters arrived in the 7900 block of Wyngate Boulevard just before 1:40AM to find heavy smoke and flames coming from the back of the home, where they found a large shed on fire.

The flames had spread to a utility room and into the attic space. Crews had to work carefully around two live power lines that were down because of the fire. Things were under control in less than 15 minutes.

Two adults and three children lived in the home, but all of them got out safely before firefighters arrived. The fire's cause is still under investigation.
