Four adults and four children escape their burning home with only one suffering minor injuries.

Shreveport Fire Department crews were called out to the 1900 block of Easy Street in the Stoner Hill neighborhood just before 11:15 this morning. They arrived to find the house fully engulfed in flames.

While fighting the fire, the home began to collapse, and firefighter safety became a concern. Crews had to battle the blaze from the outside. They had the flames under control in about 45 minutes.

The fire department says the quick actions of an adult male in the home saved the family when he smelled smoke and alerted the others to get out. An adult female suffered minor injuries, but she was treated at the scene and didn't have to be taken to the hospital.

Three other children who live in the house were at school when the fire started. The cause is still under investigation. The American Red Cross and Fire Recovery Ministry has agreed to assist the family, which has just lost everything.
