Everything You Need To Know About Donald Trump’s Inauguration
President-Elect Donald Trump becomes the 45th President on Friday January 20th. The swearing-in ceremony takes place at the West Front of the U.S. Capitol Building beginning at 8:30 am CST with opening remarks set for 10:30 am. Mr. Trump will take the office at 11am.
Students from Benton Middle School will be in the nation’s capitol to witness the historic events.
This is the oath:
I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will faithfully execute the office of President of the United States, and will to the best of my ability, preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States.
Hillary Clinton, who lost to Trump, will attend the inauguration with her husband, former President Bill Clinton. Former President George W. Bush and former first lady Laura Bush, as well as former President Jimmy Carter, also will be there. Former presidents typically attend the ceremonial transfer of power. But Bush’s father, former President George H.W. Bush, won’t be in attendance because of his health.
After Trump takes the oath, he will take part in the Inaugural Parade which begins at the steps of the Capitol Building and proceeds along Pennsylvania Avenue to the White House. The parade should wrap up by 2pm. Only one Louisiana group is taking part in the parade. The West Monroe High School Marching Band will be one of several groups marching in the parade. Here’s the full list of the other participants.
It will also be a busy night for Trump and Vice President-Elect Mike Pence. There are several Inaugural Balls across Washington DC.
Trump’s inauguration is estimated to cost $175-$200 million which is in line with the cost of previous inaugurations. Corporate and private donors will supply $70 million and taxpayers will pay the rest. The actual swearing-in ceremony will cost just over $1 million. Just over half of the entire cost will pay for inaugural security and cleanup.
There are some events prior to the inauguration including the Inaugural Gala on Thursday January 19th. Big and Rich along with Cowboy Troy will perform at this event.
